Simultaneous Soldering of Components

SST International has been a leader in the design and development of the innovative graphite tooling fixtures for the most complex eutectic soldering applications for the past four decades.  One example of this is a tooling for simultaneous soldering of components to more than one surface.
3D_1.jpgThe task was to solder the components to the top and sides of the substrate in one assembly process. Using sophisticated graphite tooling design, components and their solder preforms are precisely located against the top and side surfaces of the substrate.
3D_2.jpgUtilizing machine graphite springs and, depending on the shape, the preforms on the sides may need to be welded (or attached by other means) to one surface or the other.  The lateral force is applied to the components that will be soldered to the sides of the substrate, while the components that are going to be soldered to the top or bottom of the substrate use standard stainless steel weights.
