最有效的生产到上市模式 - Palomar 的封装服务部门是美国极少数有能力提供全方位封装服务的实验室。该实验室设在Palomar南加州Carlsbad的总部。实验室内采用了公司本身最精密，最先进的贴片机和球焊机。其他设備还包括了 GPD 的点胶机和 Royce 的测试及测量机。除了替客户开发工艺，生产和测试外，该项服务也同时提供供应链管理，其中包括了相关材料及工具的采购。
Palomar 的封装服务部门成立的宗旨是让那些还未购买设備的客户也有机会以少量生产新产品来争取新订单和新客户。一旦产量达到预期的阶段时，客户便可开始筹备投资购买设備了。当设備安装后，客户就能够马上以之前所开发的工艺进行生产。
为了保护客户的知识产权(IP), 公司对所开发的工艺是绝对保密。
目前美国的好几家客户己经利用了该项服务，他们先在Palomar的实验室开发工艺，做样品，然后将工艺转移到成本较低的墨西哥大量生产。这种生产模式己证明最有效。
在亚洲，这种生产模式还处於萌芽阶段。但是，当更多高工艺的产品开始在亚洲研发及生产时，这种生产模式将会被采用。
Assembly Services is one of the few full-service advanced packaging laboratories in the United States, and is the contract assembly, process development, prototyping and test division of Palomar Technologies. Customers utilize the solutions from Assembly Services to achieve high-precision, high-accuracy die attach and wire bonding services without the need to invest in capital equipment.
Located in the laboratories at Palomar Technologies’ headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, Assembly Services employs a full-service engineering staff and expansive clean room areas for precision contract assembly. The Assembly Services laboratories are lined with Palomar Technologies’ high-accuracy, large work area die bonders and high-reliability automated wire bonders, Precision Dispensers from GPD Global and state-of-the-art test and measurement equipment from Royce Instruments.
Primary objectives of Assembly Services:
- Enable current customers to design new packages with Palomar Technologies engineering experts
- Help new customers to achieve prototype samples or small lot productions before making a heavy investment on microelectronic packaging equipment
When the production volume increases and the time is right to justify for equipment investments, Assembly Services customers will be able to seamlessly transfer the previously developed processes as soon as the bonder equipment is installed by Palomar Technologies. This shortens the time-to-market window drastically, allowing an organization to remain ahead of the competition.
Assembly Services offers complete intellectual property (IP) protection for our customers.
Customers in America have the option to further take advantage of the solutions provided by Assembly Services by prototyping in California and then transferring the high-volume production to Palomar Technologies’ Mexican partner in a cost-effective way.
In Asia, such production model has yet to catch up. However, once there are more high-end products in development and production in Asia, it is envisaged that the cost effective business model offered by Assembly Services will be adopted by then.
