SEMICON Taiwan is the premier event for microelectronics manufacturing in Taiwan, providing a platform to connect with the companies, people, products and information shaping the future of design and manufacturing for semiconductors, nanoelectronics, [MEMS](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/applications/microelectronic-mechanical-systems/), photovoltaics and related advanced electronics.

SEMICON Taiwan 2011 returned to the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) on September 7-9, with six technology-themed pavilions and nine international forums focusing on [LEDs](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/applications/hb-hp-leds/), [MEMS](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/applications/microelectronic-mechanical-systems/), 3D ICs, advanced packaging/testing and [secondary market for capital equipment](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/certified-refurbished-3500-die-bonder-available-now). SEMI expected over 30,000 visitors to attend SEMICON Taiwan 2011 – including buyers and engineers from major foundries and packaging houses in Taiwan.

This year, the [Palomar Technologies Asia team](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/about-us/worldwide-locations/asia-pacific/) participated with [Supremetec Materials Inc. (SMI)](http://www.supremetec.com/polamare.html). The Palomar/SMI booth showcased the entire product range of Palomar Technologies automated [wire bond](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/8000-wire-bonder/ball-stud-bumper/) and [die attach](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/palomar-3800-ultra-flexible-die-bonder/) systems.

The [8000 Wire Bonder](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/8000-wire-bonder/ball-stud-bumper/)—a fully-automated thermosonic high-speed, ball-and-stitch wire bonder—was a hot topic in the booth this year. The [8000 Wire Bonder](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/8000-wire-bonder/ball-stud-bumper/) is capable of ball bumping, stud bumping, wafer bumping, chip bumping and customized looping profiles. As the assembly method of choice for first level interconnection, it is suitable for many aspects of packaging and component assembly, including [complex hybrids](https://www.palomartechnologies.com/applications/large-complex-hybrids/), MCMs and high-reliability devices.

New to the conference this year was the ability to take your conference experience "on the go" with the [SEMICON Taiwan app](http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/semicon-taiwan-2011/id462269106?ls=1&mt=8). This sleek tool allowed attendees to better plan out their experience at the show, essentially in the palm of their hand.

**SEMICON Taiwan 2011 in the Numbers:**

- Occupied 1,200 booths (5% growth from 2010)
- 570 total exhibiting companies from 19 countries
- Exhibits:
- Pre-registered visitors reached 23,000 (34% growth from 2010) coming from 40 countries
- 58.96% of visitors represent management function
- 64.69% of visitors can influence purchasing decision
