on September 7-9, with six technology-themed pavilions and nine international forums focusing on LEDs, MEMS, 3D ICs, advanced packaging/testing and secondary market for capital equipment. SEMI expected over 30,000 visitors to attend SEMICON Taiwan 2011 – including buyers and engineers from major foundries and packaging houses in Taiwan.

The 8000 Wire Bonder—a fully-automated thermosonic high-speed, ball-and-stitch wire bonder—was a hot topic in the booth this year. The 8000 Wire Bonder is capable of ball bumping, stud bumping, wafer bumping, chip bumping and customized looping profiles. As the assembly method of choice for first level interconnection, it is suitable for many aspects of packaging and component assembly, including complex hybrids, MCMs and high-reliability devices.

New to the conference this year was the ability to take your conference experience "on the go" with the SEMICON Taiwan app. This sleek tool allowed attendees to better plan out their experience at the show, essentially in the palm of their hand.
