Palomar currently has a career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer.

Successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design and development of complex electro-mechanical capital equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Produce quality electro mechanical component and assembly designs for backend capital equipment within time and cost restraints.
    • Develop concepts, solid models and detail drawings using Creo.
      • Responsible for documentation and drawing layout in conformance with standard practices per ANSI Y14.5-2009.
    • Create designs that are cost effective to produce, assemble and service.
    • Create designs that are reliable and will meet functional requirements for longevity and will function 24/7 for years without failure.
    • Proactively identify risks and recommend countermeasures.
  • Failure mode analysis and improve existing designs.
    • Assist with Field Service and Manufacturing problems by analyzing data and suggesting solutions to improve designs.
  • Capture knowledge for reuse by self and others.
    • Clearly explain design ideas and intent.
  • Continuously improve efficiency of personal and group work methods.

Education & Experience Desired:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better required.
  • Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in precision machine design or equivalent experience desired.
  • Work experience of 0-5 years in an engineering environment.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office.
  • Experience with a 3D solid modeling software package required, Creo 3.0 preferred.
  • Experience with ANSYS or other FEA software preferred.
  • Ability to work as a responsible team member in an engineering environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
