What is the purpose of an effective bonder training program? Bonder training is vital to the efficiency and success of an engineer’s process. Let us compare it to the analogy of a high performance car. First, you must learn to drive the car. Then, you must get more familiar with driving that specific car and its controls. For high performance, specific training is needed as this is no typical car. An untrained driver cannot jump into a high performance vehicle and expect to drive the car like an expert would.
The priority of the training plan should be to make sure engineers are comfortable on each critical set-up routine. The set-up could include steps such as changing the tool, verification of bondsite heater block levelness, gel pack station levelness, tool levelness, etc. It is also important that engineers are aware and familiar with each error statement which appears during production runtime. This could include something as small as pick-up failure to a major error (if any), and how to fix or resume production.

Advanced Training Lesson 1
The first advanced training lesson, which is the set-up routine, started with assisting engineers to have a 
set-up/process run checklist that needs to be verify daily (or every time they set-up or run a new/different device). One example of something on this checklist is to make sure the temperature set-up meets the actual temperature on the substrate surface. This checklist allows the engineer to have a better understanding and proper set-up of their process.
Advanced Training Lesson 2
The second advanced training lesson involved executing, trouble shooting, and modifying the existing program. This allowed further understanding of the engineer’s program and determined potential problems before they occur.
Advanced Training Lesson 3
The third advanced training lesson included creating and editing a new program. This allowed the engineer to get a feel for how this process works, as well as a deeper understanding of the program from conception to completion.
